Audio:

Bit Depth: The bit depth shall be 24 bits per sample.
Sample Rate: Irrespective of the associated image frame rate, the audio sample rate shall be either fortyeight or ninety-six thousand samples per second per channel, commonly expressed as
48.000 or 96.000 kHz. At 24 FPS playback, there are exactly 2,000 audio samples per frame for 48.000 kHz and exactly 4,000 audio samples per frame for 96.000 kHz.

DCP Digital Cinema

Digital Cinema technologies help to distribute and screen films in movie theaters in the DCP (Digital Cinema Package) theatrical format. DCP files are sent on hard or optical discs, as well via high-speed satellite channels. The content is projected with the help of special players and digital projectors.

Technological side:

The purpose is to improve the quality of image and sound, enable the control and management of screenings in many movie theaters. The material must be encrypted and safe distribution must be secured. The image is saved in JPEG200 (.j2c) format using CIE XYZ color space. One of the main problems while mastering is high-quality conversion of the master DI (Digital Intermediate) into the XYZ color space. The main task, same as with the classical DI, is to present the content to the cinema audience the way it what was designed during the DI process. The sound is saved in the Broadcast Wave (.wav) format 24 bits and 48 kHz or 96 kHz. It is possible to add audio tracks in different languages. It is possible to add subtitles in different languages.

Anton

The Cinema Sound Production Studio did a set of works for the joint Ukrainian-Georgian production Anton (Sound design, foley recording, post dubbing, and mixing for 5.1 surround sound)

The film is a historical drama, directed by Zaza Urushadze and based on Canadian writer Dale Esler’s autobiography Anton, a young boy, his friend and the Russian Revolution, which describes the turns of events his family went through in 1919.

The events in the film unfold in 1919 in a German colony near Odesa, where the local residents were living a peaceful life until the Bolsheviks came.

The dramatic events are shown to the audience with the help of the main characters, two boys, Anton and Yakov. The ruthlessness and cruelty of the adult world enter the world of the children. What is going to win in the hearts of the children, their childhood friendship or the grim reality?

The Mother of Apostles

 

The Cinema Sound Production Studio did a set of works for a nationwide production, The Mother of Apostles, directed by Zaza Buadze. (Sound design, foley recording, and mixing for 5.1 surround sound)

The film is a war drama based on real events taking place in eastern Ukraine in 2014. The war is merciless to everyone, basically every character in the film is a victim. The leading heroine, played by actress Natalia Polovynka, is a mother who’s trying to reach the site where a plane with her son on board crushed. She hopes to see him alive, but all she finds is her son’s grave.

This picture is a hymn and reverence to all the mothers. It shows a woman who gives life and the war that takes this life away.

Motherhood is everyday heroism which remains unnoticed day by day. Every mother invests so much love and energy to raise her child that losing her child is a terrible pain that totally devastates her. No war can be justified, because a war is a tragedy and pain for our mothers.

Cherkasy

The film Cherkasy tells a story of Myshko and Lev, two guys from Ukrainian countryside who find themselves on a Ukrainian military ship Cherkasy, located on the Crimean lake Donuzlav, when the annexation of the Crimea in 2014 was underway.

Kona fer i strid

Woman at War (Kona fer í stríð) is a 2018 Icelandic-Ukrainian comedy-drama film written, produced and directed by Benedikt Erlingsson, and starring Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir.

Following a premiere at 2018 Cannes Film Festival via the International Critics’ Week, it was released on 22 May 2018 to critical acclaim and was selected as the Icelandic entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.

Halla, a choir conductor and eco-activist, plans to disrupt the operations of a Rio Tinto aluminium plant in the Icelandic highlands, purposely damaging electricity pylons and wires to cut their power supply.

One day, a long-forgotten application to adopt an orphan child from Ukraine is approved. At the same time, the government ramps up police and propaganda efforts in order to catch and discredit her. The film revolves around her attempts to reconcile her dangerous and illegal activism with the upcoming adoption.
